Throughout our lifetimes we are likely to experience a feeling of loneliness. This may come from losing someone in your life, drifting apart from friends or other loved ones, or maybe just spending too much time alone. The feeling of loneliness can be a difficult feeling to overcome. Barbara Markway, a contributor writer for Psychology Today has a list of 6 helpful tips to beat the feeling of loneliness:

  1. Be open to intimacy
  2. Invite, rather than demand
  3. Acknowledge the affection you already receive
  4. Nurture affection from a variety of sources
  5. Avoid toxic affection
  6. Keep your expectations optimistic but realistic
