What is a 'Clean' Breakup? (And How to Achieve One)

Breaking up with someone can be a difficult process. No matter the reason for ending the relationship, it is never easy. Ending a relationship with someone can lead to physical and emotional consequences. There are a few ways to make the breakup clean and not a messy one. Alexandra Katehakis, a contributor writer for Psychology Today has a couple of tips to help achieve a clean breakup. 

  1. Have a breakup plan in place before you enter a relationship, a roadmap for how you will handle yourself if things go south
  2. Make a decision to communicate only when in a calm, open state of mind
  3. Get outside help
  4. Be kind to yourself and your partner
